This year, we’re walking through the Book of Psalms to discover how real people encountered God in joy, doubt, fear, grief, hope, and praise. The Psalms give us language for every season of life—and they teach us how to grow a relationship with God that is honest, resilient, and deeply personal.
Whether you’re:
– New to faith
– Returning after a long time away
– Or simply longing for something more meaningful
YOU BELONG HERE!
What to Expect:
– Messages that are honest, approachable, and grounded in real life
– Space to ask questions and explore faith without pressure
– Simple spiritual practices you can try during the week
– A community learning how to be present with God—together
It’s about learning how to pray, trust, wait, and praise—even when life is messy.
Join us each Sunday and experience God’s presence in your life as we worship and study the Bible together. Come just as you are.

How to Experience God: Daily Reading in the Psalms
How to Use This Devotional – A Simple Daily Rhythm (5–10 Minutes)
Each weekday devotion (Monday–Friday) includes three movements:
- Read – Slowly read the selected Psalm or portion of Scripture. Read it more than once if time allows.
- Reflect – Sit with the short reflection. Do not rush to agreement or answers. Let the Holy Spirit bring words or ideas to the surface.
- Practice – End with the suggested practice. These practices are intentionally simple and repeatable, designed to help you notice and respond to God’s presence throughout the day.
You can also us the SOAP method:
S.O.A.P. is a simple method for reading and applying God’s word to our lives. It stands for Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer and involves four simple steps:
1. Scripture – Read a short Bible passage out loud and/or write it out. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you as you read and look for any specific words or phrases that stand out and write them down.
2. Observation – What do you notice about the verses? What do you think the main message is? What verses, words or ideas jump out to you?
3. Application – Ask God how he wants you to apply the verse to your own life. What do you need to do today because of the passage? How do you need to think or live differently?
4. Prayer – Have a list of things you’re asking God to do for you or others. Start by thanking God for things then move to requests.

At New Hope we start each year with a time of prayer & fasting to refocus our hearts on God. We can get so distracted in our busyness and lose sight on the things that matter most in life. We’d love for you to join us as we take a spiritual deep dive in our relationship with God and ask Him to move in specific ways in our lives. We will be fasting from Jan. 11 to Feb 1, 2026.
You can download reading plans below to help you in the process. To learn more about fasting, watch a previous teaching from Pastor Tim Broughton on YouTube. CLICK HERE FOR FASTING SERMON

STEPS TO SUCCESSFUL FASTING
STEP 1: Set Your Objective
Why are you fasting? What is your spiritual goal? Here are some of the most common objectives: Spiritual renewal, Reconciliation of relationships, Guidance in life decisions, Healing, Resolution of problems, Special grace to handle a difficult situation… Write your objectives
STEP 2: Make Your Commitment
What are you going to fast from? Think about the things you normally use to feed your body or your soul (emotions). Food: certain meals each week, types of food (sweets, pop, meats, etc). Media: Facebook, Instagram, news, Netflix, gaming, etc. Write what and when you are fasting
STEP 3: Create a prayer list
What are you going to ask God for every day during the fast? If you have kids, please sit down and create this list together. Example: Family members, work situation, church family, personal needs, hopes for the year, physical healing, etc…
Write your prayer list
PRAYING THROUGH THE ARMOR OF GOD
Equip me, Lord: (PRAYER)
• With the belt of truth (v. 14). May your truth rule in my heart and be in my mind and on my lips today.
• With the breastplate of righteousness (v. 14). Apart from You there is no righteousness, but through Jesus I have been “born again” and made righteous in Your sight. May I live as a righteous person.
• With feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of peace (v. 15). May I reflect the Gospel in my words and actions, that through me, with my every encounter, others may be drawn one step closer to You.
• With the shield of faith (v.16). May I take You at Your word concerning promises about the present and future—promises of everlasting love, abundant life, and so much more.
• With the helmet of salvation (v. 17). Remind me that nothing can separate me from Your love and that I’ve been saved by grace. In Your grace, help me to say “no” to all ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live a self-controlled, upright, and godly life (Titus 2:12,13).
• And with the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God (v. 17). May Your Holy Spirit reign in my life and bring to my mind just the right Bible verses to be in my heart and on my lips. May I be “filled with the Spirit” and ready with Scripture as You were, Jesus, when the devil tempted You.
• Finally, keep me in an attitude of prayer (v. 18). Remind me to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions.” Cause me to be alert and always praying for the saints; to be joyful and to give thanks in everything (see 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
