Hey Illuminate Student Ministry!

We are very excited about our retreat this coming weekend!  We have had to make some changes do to multiple hotel issues.  We are sorry for any confusion this may have caused over the past few weeks.

We have a great relationship with Round Lake Christian Camp in Lakeville, OH and decided to host our retreat there.  There are a lot of activities at the camp as well as nice bunk rooms and bathrooms.  We will start with Dinner at the church on Friday and then head to Round Lake from there.  Attached is the full retreat details & schedule.

FRIDAY MARCH 4th 6:30pm – Drop of Students @ New Hope for Dinner at the church
SUNDAY MARCH 6th 12:00pm – Pick up the students at the church after worship gathering

SPECIAL OUTING: Snow tubing became unavailable, so we are going to ExitThis Escape rooms in Mansfield.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Spiritual Focus: Beginning on Wednesday, February 23rd, the students will be entering into a series focusing on the concept of influence. The study will start with the intent to identify where each person is within God’s circle of influence. The series will flow into being aware of those who influence us and the importance of placing ourselves in Christian communities. The final section is about taking all of this and seeing how we should act while in other people’s circle of influence (leading people the way Christ did). J2U2 Retreat and Illuminate Circle Ignition on April 3rd will be great bookends to this series. Therefore, J2U2 Retreat will be a great kickoff for this series!

Topics: How we interact with Jesus and others.

What it means to be saved by Jesus.

What we are doing: The youth group will be spending the weekend at Round Lake Christian Camp. The students will participate in lessons, small group discussions, worship, and games! UPDATE: Snow tubing became unavailable, so we are going to ExitThis Escape rooms in Mansfield.

Restating Some Rules…

All of our leaders will be monitoring and supervising the students. We will not tolerate any inappropriate behavior including disrespectful talk, gossip, sexual misconduct, inappropriate clothing, and anything that is deemed wrong by leaders and staff of New Hope Church and Illuminate Student Ministry.

We also hold a strict policy of no boy or girl students being alone at any time. We do not have any activities where students will be alone together. This is a serious violation and will not be tolerated.

While we are allowing phones on the trip, we will have various activities where we will ask the students to put their phones in a place where it will not be a distraction. We are trying to create a safe place for students and also a place where students can disconnect and get some time away with God. If you would like to get a hold of your student, and we are in the middle of a no-phone activity, you can contact any of our youth leaders or Isaac Franks with the number at the bottom of this sheet. It may be beneficial to write that number down as your student will be turning this paper in.

If there is any misconduct our leaders will give students a warning. If the misconduct continues then we will not hesitate to reach out to parents to have them removed from the camp. If it is a serious violation, there will be no warning and parents will be contacted immediately.

We are looking forward to having a great time with your students and are excited for what God has for us that weekend. Reach out to Isaac Franks with any questions, comments, or concerns! Thank you so much!
